Ultramarine Violet is often used to give products a purplish pigment. It can be derived from either plant or animal sources. It is created through an oxidation process that incorporates sodium alumino sulpho silicates, which can also be found in certain foods. To achieve the desired color of violet, pink or blue, it is oxidized according to color by adding or removing variants of red shade.
