High in healthy saturated fats, palm oil is noted to be one of the most commonly used vegetable oils worldwide. Palm oil is cultivated in tropical places like Africa and Asia, in countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia and Nigeria. The oil can either be extracted from the pulp of the fruit (generally used for use in foods) and the kernel (typically used in cosmetics and household objects). Palm oil contains vitamin E which is known to be essential for maintaining healthy skin. It also is known to be an abundant source of antioxidants thought to protect the body from free radical damage and signs of aging. It is also said to contain amounts of beta-carotene (vitamin A).
